At the end of last year I went to the US on a holiday and whilst over there got my first taste (no pun intended) of the 'food truck' culture and absolutely loved it! The availability of different cuisines (at a decent price) was fantastic!
Visiting LA, my cousin introduced me a food truck which served these awesome Korean Tacos. So, when I heard that there was a Mexican food truck in Adelaide - La Cantina Co, I jumped at the chance to visit and see what was on offer!

On the day that I visited, I was very lucky to miss the line up. Along with Burger Theory and other food trucks, get in early and try and miss the rush. Get caught in a line and you will be waiting forever! I got to the window and ordered the soft tacos:
- The smoked chicken and al cabron with pico de gallo, sour cream and coriander
- The beef, black bean and chorizo, pico de gallo, cheese and guacamole
To me, Mexican food is not supposed to be a ‘fine dining’ experience, so what better way to get this type of street food than with the concept that La Cantina Co is providing. The sights of people surrounding the van and enjoying their tacos reminded me so much of what I saw in the US.
I am also very excited to see that Adelaide is starting to provide the public with more Mexican eateries (god knows that we need them) and is also getting into food trucks which is adding more elements to Adelaide’s already fantastic food culture.
Consider dialling back on the beans and revisiting consistency of tacos sizes and you will be onto a winner. PacMan gives La Cantina Co 6/10 chops on the chopping board.
