Pie Floater |
The infamous Adelaide pie floater is not known for its looks..... Taste wise, I can't say its everyone's 'cup of tea'. The mashed peas is actually quite flavourless, and the meat pie with tomato sauce is the most prominent flavour in this dish. Meat pies are something you either love or hate, and the pie floater is the same, adding the mashed peas won't make you like pies any more than you already do.
Hayes gives the pie floater at Enjoy Cafe Bakery 6.5/10 chops.
I would have to agree with you, it is a very plain dish, however mashed peas do have a flavour, if done properly. Unfortunately "Ye Olde Pie floater" of yesteryear is no longer with us, I am speaking of course about the original pie cart with the authentic Ginger beer on tap,you would have had to have tried this as well to compliment. For the atmosphere alone I would have added another 1.5 chops, and of course to be dined upon always after 11pm at night, never before.

totally agree there Nolifeform. nothing beats the old pie cart on the parade, and even the one on nth terrace in the 80's and 90's.
ReplyDeletehowever I never ever tried the ginger on tap... I wish I did....
