Veggie Velo is literally run on the back of a bike and serves vegetarian burgers. The overall concept of being eco-friendly ties in well with the health conscious concept that is trying to be promoted.
There are three types of burgers available:
1) Quinoa patty with lettuce, carrot, beetroot, alfalfa, onion jam, sweet potato and cashew spread (vegan friendly)
2) Haloumi burger with grilled mushrooms, lemon thyme and the same salads mentioned above
3) Combination
Vegie Velo also serves
salads and desserts.
I opted for the
combination burger. Overall, I was
a little disappointed. The quinoa
patty was a little dry and tasteless however the wholemeal bun was fresh and
the haloumi and mushroom were delicious.
Salads were fresh and added a crisp textural element to the burger. I would definitely go back for the
haloumi and mushroom option.
Overall, the cost is a little expensive, the combination burger was about $12 with the quinoa or haloumi options costing $10 (burger only). To compare, Burger Theory charges about $13 for a burger, fries and a drink.
For some, the concept of a 'healthy' burger may not bode well, however if you are looking for something healthy, I recommend the haloumi and mushroom burger (and lets be honest, haloumi is awesome!).
Due to the pricing, Mirko gives Veggie Velo 6/10 chops on the chopping board.
