Quick Chop! - Chinese Garden Newton

Chinese Garden Restaurant in Newton was the location for a mid week extended family dinner. Not really one to venture outside of Chinatown for Chinese food, I had not been here before and was a tad skeptical. I'm not going to beat around the bush - from outside appearances you wouldn't expect much. However, as you walk through some dodgy looking doors you're greeted with a large modern dining area. It was starting to look good.

Unfortunately I didn't take many photos even though we ordered over 10 dishes! But here are a couple.

Delicious carbs

XO Sauce long beans
Roast duck with plum sauce
And the verdict? Each of the dishes were pretty good. Of those shown, the beans were flavourful while the duck was tender and juicy. This is decent suburban Chinese joint serving food at affordable prices. Jess gives Chinese Garden 14.5/20 chops on the chopping board. A couple of chops have been taken off due to mushy prawns (not shown).

Food: 7.5/10
Ambiance: 3/5
Service: 4/5
