Quick Chop! - Bread Temptation's Bánh mì

Searching for the best Banh Mi in Adelaide city centre?  Look no further.  Forget Soonta's overpriced fake Banh Mi.

Located inside Topham mall is a little shop called Bread Temptations.  If you go there at lunch time, expect a long line, however serving speed is quick, so you won't be there for long.  Why, you ask, that's because they don't have that much on their menu.  3 types of Banh Mi, along with some other baked desserts and bread, however the majority of the crowd know what they want and order the Banh Mi.  In and Out.

Roast Pork w/ Chilli & Corriander

Inners

Half way through!

This occasion I ordered the roast pork with all vegetables, soy and chili, including red onion.  With a generous pate spread, super crispy pork, lots of fat, there's nothing to not like about this roll.  I would recommend not to get the red onion, it overpowered a lot of the other flavours.  After my first bite, I removed the rest and it clearly made the roll much better.

Service ain't the best, Vietnamese cold meat roll is still on the menu even though they haven't sold it for months, and when you ask, they just say they don't sell it.....

Definitely comparable to Tay Do's famous Banh Mi..... and definitely worth the $4.90.

In addition to JSG's thoughts on Bread Temptations, I (Nathan), would like to add mine. I too have been visiting Bread Temptations for a long time now, and agree it's the best banh mi in the CBD. I have tried them all; banh mi (central market), Soonta, Miss Mai, that place in Southern Cross (?), Zen .... just to name a few! The rolls are always fresh. Pork is always crunchy and plentiful. Always lots of pate & salad. I don't mind the onion, I wouldn't throw it out, but, I do ask for no onion. And they have never forgotten my order. Plus it's awesome value at under $5.

My only tip is to not get one that is half assembled. Sometimes, earlier in the day, they have some rolls half filled to assist in dealing with the rush. Ask for a freshly made roll, or go a little later on. Oh, and while you're there, try the fried wings - taste sensation. Once, Jess described them as 'Pho Fried Chicken'! There are also chairs to sit at outside that make it a pretty convenient working day lunch!

Just to prove that they are consistent in sizing, here is a picture of a roll I had at least 4 months ago.
