37 different iced coffees in 25 days.... and this doesn't count the ones I tried twice to confirm how good/bad they were! No, I wasn't stupid enough again to drink them all in one sitting like my first and second reviews here and here.
This review will be short and sweet, I'm not going to go in depth into each coffee, I'll just let you know what was best, what was worst, and everything in between.....So if you ever visit Japan, you'll know which iced coffee to try and which to avoid.

The majority of the iced coffees I tested used milk or cream. I tried to stay away from the milk powder ones, so I could do a better comparison between Australian iced coffees and Japanese ones.
The scoring system will be similar to the Coffee Roundup where 3 chops is best, 2 is acceptable, 1 is barely acceptable.
Starting with 3 chops, these were the highlights, they were all creamy, not overly sweet, but each had it's own distinctive coffee taste. Something rarely seen in Australian Iced Coffees (IC). As stated previously in my reviews, drinking different iced coffees from different countries has made me see how Australian IC focusses more on milk and dietary statistics, rather than the actual coffee beans used.

The clear winner out of all the Japanese Iced Coffees - from Seven Eleven |
2 Chops, the majority of the Japanese Iced Coffees were in this category. They all tasted very similar to Australian Iced Coffees, so it was difficult to judge which was better, so I lumped them all into here.
1 chop - some of these were very, very bad.... tasteless, or even just plain wrong. A few of these are canned Iced Coffees from vending machines which are a bit different, because they use milk powder or no milk at all.
Honorary mentions - Matcha lattes. Green tea mixed with an Iced coffee. Definitely worth a try, just to see how strange it is.

I love the roots creamy cafe - always easy to find in the vending machines :) I tried a tiramisu latte once and it was a big mistake - tasted like milkshake/artificial cake, worst combo ever but only in Japan :P
ReplyDeleteyup, the comment 'only in Japan' always comes up in my mind whenever I go back there.
