Pancakes at the Port - drool worthy!

Pancakes at the Port - 5 Mercantile Dock, Port Adelaide

I can't think of a better way to reward oneself for completing a half-marathon other than copious amounts of food, that will probably clog your arteries - cue Pancakes at the Port! Located in Port Adelaide just a few paces away from the famous light house is this unassuming cafe that specialises in pancakes.

Golden syrup - as much as your heart desires!
All three of us went for the German Feast, consisting of short stack with whipped butter, grilled tomato, bacon, egg and grilled kransky. Pancakes are the fluffiest and lightest I have ever had. Everything else was of good standard, not culinary genius but hearty and tasty.

Hash browns were fried to perfection, crunchy and moreish. Once again, a satisfying comfort food.

Lastly, we ordered a serve of cottage potatoes to share and given all the food we had consumed even sharing this dish was difficult. Cottage potatoes are pan-fried potatoes served with spring onion, bacon and sour cream. This dish was served with sweet chilli sauce, not exactly traditional but tasty nonetheless. Much like the hash browns, the potatoes were crunchy and moreish.

Pancakes at the Port is perfect if you're after a heavy dose of gluttony in a casual environment, and would be great place to bring kids. Wait staff were attentive enough but not much more was expected given the type of venue.
