Robe Providore - 4 Victoria St, Robe
On a recent trip to Robe, we (Nathan and family) were keen to try everything that Robe had to offer. One of the recommendations from Mahalia of
Mahalia Coffee was Robe Providore, on the main street. Read the other Robe reviews
here. On our first day, we had a short walk around and took a glance at the menu, and were eager to try breakfast the very next morning.

The interior |
Robe Providore is instantly inviting upon entry. They have a cakes cabinet, a large shelf full of their own house baked bread, and a smaller cabinet full of house baked pastries. We both agree we need to return just to try the cakes and pastries.

So much to try, so little time. |
We sat down by the front window and had our first detailed look at the menu. You'll see that the breakfast menu just covers the standard favourites, which I am a fan of. Get these right, and you'll have people coming back for more. I especially like the slight twist that is in every option, such as the brioche with the Benedict or the pork sausage with the Governor.

Breakfast menu |
I was pretty hungry by this stage and was keen on trying the Robe Governor. My wife, being a huge fan of a good Eggs Benedict went for this, however opted to leave the roast pork off. Upon ordering, I was provided with the option to have this replaced with some ham, which I thought was a great idea and went with it. We also order two lattes, and a piece of toast from the childrens menu.

Eggs Benedict |
The Eggs Benedict hit the spot. Perfectly poached free range eggs, a punchy hollandaise, smoky ham, sweet brioche, and lots of flavour from a very good relish. A great combination and a very enjoyable breakfast. The kids toast was as expected, with freshly baked sourdough and plentiful toppings. The coffee was quite nice, with well textured milk, with a strong nuttiness and smokiness from the beans.

Governor Robe |
The Governor Robe was big and filling, just what I wanted. Again, the free range eggs were poached perfectly, oozing all over my toast. I especially liked the pork sausage, mushrooms and bacon. The sausage was brilliant actually, with a slight hint of fennel and pepper. I'd add that to every meal. The spinach and tomatoes gave the dish some freshness and took away from the heaviness of the bacon and pork. The relish was also a great addition to the dish and provided a much needed to counter the pork and bacon.
We were so happy with our breakfast on this day, we also decided to get a quick breakfast before we hit the road on our last day. I love a good
bacon and egg roll, so this time, I tried the egg and bacon on brioche. For $6 this is a steal. If this was locally available, I believe that I would have one every weekend. The brioche roll was sweet and fluffy, the bacon crispy and the egg just runny. What more could you want?

Breakfast of champions - the Egg and Bacon Roll |
Overall, on the multiple visits we had at the Robe Providore, we were always greeted and provided with great service, the food (both the hot food and pastries) were super consistent with use of good quality produce. Add to this a great setting and an inviting dining area and the Robe Providore is a must visit when in Robe.
