Quick Chop! Tastes of NYC Part 2

Tastes of New York City - Part 2

Continuing on from my first NYC round up (see Part 1 here) I continue with more delicious treats from NYC. Enjoy!

Chicken and Gyro rice combo - Halal Guys
My cousin introduced me to the Halal Guys food cart and told me that this is the only cart she goes to for Chicken Rice. I trust my cousin's judgement so I had to try this out for myself. Walking to this cart I can see a line spanning as far as the eye can see and I know its going to be good. Basic ingredients, made well and enhanced by the 'white' and 'red' sauces. The white sauce is cooling whilst the red is spicy. Word of warning - get the red sauce on the side as it may be too hot for a number of people.

Lobster Roll and Pickle - Luke's Lobster
This sandwich was so good! Chunky, meaty lobster in a sweet roll - delicious! And for under $20 this is a decadent lunchtime treat.

Ginger and Chocolate and Himalayan rock salt gelato - Grom
Grom is an Italian gelato chain that has made its way to the US. Soft, creamy gelato in many different flavours is definitely worth a try.

Latte from Stumptown
Being from Australia, I think that I can safely say that a number of us are coffee snobs. We know what a good coffee should taste like and we are definitely spoilt for choice. America is still very immature when it comes to coffee but it is definitely growing with places like Stumptown and Blue Bottle Coffee Co leading the way. I was not surprised that my coffee was good when I heard my barista say "catcha later mate".

See here for a list of our Adelaide Coffee Roundups.

Margherita Pizza from John's Pizzeria on Bleecker
I am very fortunate to have a cousin that lives in NYC and is a bit of a foodie like me. Last time I was in NYC my cousin to me to Brooklyn establishment Grimaldi's (and I was not disappointed). This time, it was John's Pizzeria on Bleecker and again - not disappointed. The pizza is very rustic, with very simple flavours done well. I have been lucky enough to have not had a bad NYC pizza experience. If you are ready for a bit of a trek, head out to Di Fara's Pizza also.
