Tom & Jerry - Charcoal Shawarma, 470 Main North Rd

Tom & Jerry is one of those places I have spotted and thought, gotta try that one day soon. Fast forward a few weeks and too many repetitions of the same sentence every time we drove past it, I spotted a Scoopon for them and no dinner plans. Why would I choose anything else?
Waiting for my order. |
This is not a review of the Scoopon, or the process - what the Scoopon did for me was prompt me to eat there that evening, at hopefully a reduced price! The Scoopon read as follows; Authentic Middle Eastern Meat Platter with Sides and Drink - Only $19 for Two. So, on the phone I hopped to pre order for takeway.
Open plate - Lamb |
Open plate - Chicken |
And this is what we received - two open plates, one with Chicken, and one with Lamb. We had the option on the phone to have them instead as a wrap (Yiros style), but we both preferred the open plate option. Both meats were fantastic. Up there with Lawash. Tasty, juicy, well smoked and well seasoned, both meats were the star of the meal. The coleslaw style salad was good at providing an element of crunch. My only recommendation would be to provide more bread and garlic sauce. Lots more. If this is the standard serving size, then next time, I would request double sauce and bread. It just all disappeared too quickly for the mountain of meat I had to demolish. The chips were nice, fried in fresh oil, not overly done, with a generous coating of a salt and paprika.
On a night when I felt like a pile of charcoal meat, this hit the spot. I'll definitely return again, remembering to ask for more bread and sauce.
Nathan gives Tom & Jerry 15/20 chops on The Chopping Board.
