The Press Burger - Still the best burger in Adelaide

Press* Food and Wine – Press Burger – 40 Waymouth St

I am continuously recommending the Press Burger, verbally, on twitter, Instagram and any other avenue that might come close to referencing 'Adelaide' and 'burgers'. One of the risks of this is that I am recommending somewhere based upon one single experience, which might not be relevant. To avoid this, I continuingly return to my favourites to ensure that I am providing relevant information. And, which is probably truer, it’s an excellent burger and I look for any reason to return.

This particular evening, it was the first Thursday night Adelaide Crows game at Adelaide Oval, and I was heading down after work. Personally, I love the idea of heading to the football after work, grabbing a burger on the way. Tonight, I was joined by my wife, who had never had a Press* burger! We've been to Press* before, but for dinner. So, we grabbed ourselves some seats downstairs, ordered two burgers and a side of fries.

The Press Burger, onion rings, side of fries

The look of the burger hasn't changed in the time I have been trying it. The bun still has a slight sweetness and a great weight to carry all the flavours and hold its form throughout. The patty is still delicious, with a great char. It comes out medium as standard, and is incredibly juicy. The seasoning is still on the mark. The sauce, a combination of an aioli and tomato based sauce still matches the bun and patty. It’s still my favourite burger. Present company, who’s been a part of the burger search from day one, agreed. After all we've had, it’s as close to Shake Shack we can find.

The fries and onion rings are great too. They get forgotten during the burger experience, but they are still a necessity. At $18.50, you might say that's a bit rich for a burger. But, you can have a burger at a lesser price and not be as satisfied. I am happy to pay for quality when it's delivered consistently as it is here.

A lot of people don't think about heading to Press* for the burger, but it's a definite must do in Adelaide.
