A few of my favourite things...
For those who follow the blog, many of us have been fortunate enough to travel whether it be for work or play (you can also check the #otcbontour hashtag on our instagram page). Reminiscing at my past travels and looking on my phone I (Mirko) realise how many food photos I have and thought it worthwhile sharing some pics from my travels around the world. This post is about Hong Kong and will be short and sweet, showcasing two of my favourite HK food items. When visiting Hong Kong, there are two things that I MUST have - and you must too!
Xiao Long Bao (soupy dumplings) from Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao |
The soupy dumplings are delicious - but be careful to
not break the dumpling skin with your chopsticks when picking up these
delightful morsels or the soup will drip (or squirt) all over you. I am still to find a place in Adelaide that does these justice, so if anyone has any recommendations, please please please let me know!
Char Siu Bao from Tim Ho Wan |
Most people have had Char Siu Bao as part of standard
Yum Cha fare, but nothing that you have ever had will compare to the
Char Siu Bao from Tim Ho Wan. This place (originally located in Mongkok)
is Michelin Star Yum Cha on a street cart budget. The bun is slightly
crunchy with soft innards and the BBQ char siu is so sweet and
delicious. The original Tim Ho Wan has moved location and only housed 20
people and you would without doubt have to wait to get in....but it is
worth it!
