Always on the lookout for somewhere new to have lunch, a few of us from work including myself (Mirko) decided to give Flinders Street Project a go.

Flinders Street Project has just been awarded best Cafe as part of the 2014 Advertiser Food Awards. It is home to former Public head chef Stewart Wesson.

Looking at the lunchtime menu, there are a number of larger lunchtime options as well as smaller quick eats. We opted for some smaller items selecting the trio of Danish open sandwiches.  There are four to choose from (Pork Belly Terrine, Poached Chicken, Goats Cheese and Salmon).

Overall, the three sandwiches were tasty and a good option for lunch. The poached chicken and goats cheese were my favourites with the pork belly terrine being the least of my favourites. The pork belly terrine itself was a little bland and was overpowered by the apple chutney atop the sandwich.

Following this I also purchased a latte. Flinders Street Project uses a single origin, sourced from local roaster De Groot Coffee Co, and is a splendid cup to drink. They also have Mischief Brew Coffee, a cold brewed coffee that is sensational on a hot day.
