Froth & Fodder - this little brunch-er needs some foddering

Froth & Fodder - 1/41 Mortimer Street Kurralta Park SA 5037

On my regular Saturday hunt for a brunch/lunch spot I haven't previously visited I (Amanda) decide to give Froth and Fodder a go. Walking in, the place is full but luckily we spot one free table at the back of the room.  Promptly our order is taken and we look around the casually and rustically decorated cafe. The petite flowers on each table is a sweet touch and some nice looking cakes are staring at us through the glass of the cabinet.

Breakfast Burger $13.50
We begin with sharing the 'Breakfast Burger' which consists of Balhannah bacon, a fried organic free range egg, avocado, cheddar cheese, baby spinach, tomato chutney and garlic aioli on a sourdough roll.  This was a delicious concoction! I loved the combination of the egg, bacon and cheese with the healthiness of avocado and baby spinach. The egg was cooked to a perfect gooey centre, the sourdough roll was fresh and the tomato chutney and aioli added even more flavour and juiciness to complete this satisfying breakfast burger. I take a moment to note that this would be the perfect hangover cure next time I'm in need!

Smashed Avocado $17.50
Next up is the 'Smashed Avocado' which is two poached eggs, grilled haloumi, avocado, fresh rocket and toasted seeds on sourdough toast. Smashed avocado is definitely one of my go to dishes when brunching which never grows old especially when each place dresses it up slightly differently. Today's smashed avocado is a winner. The poached eggs have an oozy yolk when sliced, the dense sourdough bread is lightly toasted and easy to cut and combine with the creamy avocado and soft melty and slightly salty haloumi cheese. The rocket provides the fresh bitterness to cut through the richness of the eggs, haloumi and avocado.

It's too bad we are so full after these two dishes as the buttermilk pancakes were screaming my name over and over from that menu but I guess it means I have another reason to return! If you are looking for a casual quick place for a decent brunch then go check out Froth and Fodder next time and if you beat me to the pancakes then please let me know all about them... bite by bite!

Vegetarian/Vegan Friendly: Lots of vegetarian dishes.
Child Friendly: There is sufficient room and noise for children to blend in. No specific kids menu, but toast and a variety of spreads available.
