Quick Chop! Hello Sarnie

Hello Sarnie - 147 Pirie Street, Adelaide SA 5000

Deciding to go on strike from making lunches for a week, I (Amanda) remembered that I've been waiting for an opportunity to try Hello Sarnie which is walking distance from my work.  Slightly larger than I was expecting, the right hand side of the store has fridges containing the sandwiches, wraps, salads, baguettes, snacks and drinks.  The left hand side has tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your 'sarnie' and there is also outdoor seating.

Hello Sarnie's philosophy is to provide freshly made, healthy, pre-packaged takeaway breakfast and lunch options using good quality and locally sourced ingredients.  What I really loved knowing is that whatever is leftover at the end of the day is donated to charity and they start fresh in the kitchen preparing the 'sarnies' again the next day.

Today they have a special 'Christmas Sarnie' as it is the week leading up to Christmas, which grabs my attention as I decide I can have any of the regular sandwiches another time.  I take my sandwich from the fridge to the counter, order a latte and within minutes I'm making my way back to the office.

Christmas Sarnie $7.50 & Small Latte $3
I'll be honest, if I'm going to order a sandwich out I've always ensured they make it fresh in-front of me as I do not like pre-made sandwiches.  I always find the bread is stale or the sauces have made the bread mushy or the tomato is soft and furry or everything is dry and boring.  So I did go into this sandwich not expecting a whole lot but.......  proved wrong I was!  All the ingredients were fresh and of great quality.  The multi-grain bread soft, lots of layers of smoked turkey so you actually knew you were eating a turkey sandwich!  The perfect cranberry sauce accompaniment and decent amount of apricot stuffing providing a great chew factor and lots of baby spinach to make sure I was getting in my health factor for the day.  If there was something I could have gone without it would have been the mayonnaise but that's just personal preference as I'm not much of a mayo fan.  Either way I loved this sandwich and it was just as good quality as any other sandwich I've had made fresh to order.

Hello Sarnie also do a good cup of coffee using a custom Coffee Barun bean blend.  There were hints of caramel and that unmistakable Barun taste.  Now we know the coffee is decent we look forward to returning to try the current breakfast special of a small coffee and bacon and egg brioche for only $6.95.

I'm happy I've had a week off from making my own lunches because I've now found a close-by, quick, good valued option for the next time this happens.  I'll definitely be back so I can make my way through the menu and find my ultimate 'sarnie'!
