Quick Chop! The Nourish'd Kitchen

The Nourish'd Kitchen - 3 Ann Street, Stepney, SA 5069

Lucky to have the Monday off from work the day before Australia day I (Amanda) decide to do something I've never tried before... lunch for one! So I cruise on down to The Nourish'd Kitchen and set myself up on the bar table with a high stool by the window overlooking busy little Ann street.

I bring my laptop along thinking I might blog while I eat but that only lasted a couple of sentences because my distraction rate is high... candy crush anyone?! The Nourish'd Kitchen's philosophy is to use seasonal, fresh and wholesome ingredients and avoid the use of processed foods, refined sugars and grains.

There is so much to admire at The Nourish'd Kitchen. The decor has very clean lines, is modern and earthy. It definitely is a place you feel comfortable and happy in with lots of natural light streaming through the large windows. There is a couch and coffee table section, bar table and large communal table in the centre of the space. I place my order and pay at the counter and begin some writing while I wait.

Green Eggs & Ham $18
Not long after, the 'Green Eggs and Ham' arrives. A very simple but visually pleasing dish is placed in front of me. It consists of baked eggs with spinach and feta wrapped in ham, which looks like a little breakfast muffin.  This is served with haloumi, three slices of seed loaf and a generous amount of avocado. I'm a bit hesitant to dig in because my coffee has not yet arrived. So I grab the attention of the server to remind him and he asks me what I ordered again. Somehow my coffee order was misplaced but once informed my almond milk latte was out in a flash. Yes they have a variety of different milks to choose from!

Overall I enjoyed this breakfast dish. The breakfast muffin as I like to call it was soft and moist with pockets of feta throughout and the ham providing the salty seasoning. The haloumi had a nice outside crust and soft inner just how I like it. The avocado was a great accompaniment for the seed loaf as this grain free loaf was very compact and heavy and once cooled from the toasting was quite hard and crunchy. By the last slice I couldn't cut it with a knife, so it turned into more of a cracker topped with avocado and haloumi which worked but I think I would have preferred a slightly softer style loaf.

I left Nourish'd Kitchen feeling very nourished indeed! I will definitely be returning, as I loved the feel of the place and the healthy food and drink options offered. Or maybe I'll even try their new meal delivery service... how convenient!
