Noosa - Betty's Burgers - Shake Shacks Doppelganger

Betty's Burgers - 2/50 Hastings Street, Noosa Heads, Queensland 4567

You'll have seen a few burger posts on the blog throughout our time. We've eaten burgers from all over the world, and as a group we sometimes have differing views on what makes a good burger, but we all think Shake Shack is our favourite. We've blogged how Nordburger in Adelaide is as close as you can get to it, but I'm going to add another Australian contender to that today - Betty's Burgers in Noosa (and the Gold Coast).

Betty's Classic - with double beef, bacon and cheese - $18
One of the highlights of my (Nathan) trips to Noosa is always Betty's. It's one of the first meals that I'll make sure we've allocated a night to. It's a simple burger. Juicy patties (you know, the kind where the juices run down your arm), a soft, slightly sweet bun, just thick enough to hold its contents. The cheese is thick and perfectly melted, the bacon crispy and thick. The lettuce does its job, adding in some freshness to all the delicious meat juices. Betty's special sauce is brilliant, it's like a thousand island, mixed with some spice and a little more creaminess. Just like the Shack's. And there's ample sauce to get you through the burger.

Betty's burgers are the kind of burgers where you want to eat 4 more immediately after, but your stomach is screaming at you not to. By the time you start to have that internal discussion around whether you could actually fit one in, you've gone into a burger coma to prevent this from happening. And a fine burger coma it is.

We had the normal sides, fries and onion rings. Both of these were good, the onion rings are hand crumbed and would be my first choice between the two. We also tried the concretes (a fancy soft serve cup with mix ins) this time - no pictures and nothing really to go back there for. But Betty's is all about the burger. Don't leave Noosa without having one...or two...or ten.

Vegetarian/Vegan Friendly: Yes - Shroom burger, gluten free options or salads.
Child Friendly: Yes - Kids burger is great and lots of room to move. Take away a great option too.

Ambiance: 4/5 - The eat in area is open, busy and functional with tall bar seats and tables.
Service: 4/5 - Friendly and fast.
Food: 9/10 - Just the best burgers. Nothing to improve, nothing to change.

In total OTCB gives Betty's Burgers 17/20 chops on The Chopping Board.
