Recently On The Chopping Board (OTCB) was invited to the launch of a new catering company named Nice Little Things Catering Co (NLT). And nice little things is exactly what we got! All food and beverages were provided on behalf of NLT.

Owner, Kelly Kingston has 20 years experience in the food industry and this launch party celebrated her exciting transition to starting her very own catering company in Adelaide. The party was hosted in her equally talented husband's Green Edge Commercial Interiors business, which was a super chic place to treat a room full of friends, family, fellow foodies and media to a taste of Kelly's 'seasonal spring favourites'.

Kelly has created NLT to focus on using locally sourced produce, to create delicious hand made savouries and sweets to be enjoyed in a variety of settings, tonight a stand-up cocktail party environment. My only concern at these types of catering events is if there will be enough food to fulfil me and if tonight is anything to go by then you will definitely not leave hungry if NLT's is catering! A generous amount of finger foods saw a range of dietary requirements catered for throughout the night including gluten free, vegan and vegetarian.

A few of the many standouts from the night included the Asian pulled pork sliders on a brioche bun and kimchi slaw, Thai fish cakes with sweet chilli dipping sauce, marinated chicken skewers with Thai peanut sauce, roasted cauliflower and gruyere tarts and the mixed wild rice and couscous salads.  All the dishes prepared and presented well, were full of flavour from the use of fresh ingredients and superb cooking skills that made it hard for us not to go back for seconds when we knew there were so many more dishes to try throughout the night.

Some of our favourite sweet dishes included the selection of truffles, spiced Spanish pear cake with cinnamon icing, caramel popcorn and peanut butter slice with chocolate and nuts. The dessert table looked like a sweet dream, so pretty and full of temptation, it really was a table full of 'nice little things'.
