Quick Chop - Dessert at Jamies

Jamie's Italian - 2 King William Street, Adelaide SA 5000

Looking for somewhere to head for a bite to eat after a night football game at Adelaide Oval recently, we thought we'd check out dessert at Jamie's Italian. I'd always thought it was a prime spot for a bite to eat when AFL football moved to Adelaide Oval. Check out our previous Jamie's reviews here.

Epic Brownie - $12.90
The Epic Brownie is described as a warm fudgy brownie with vanilla ice cream and caramelised amaretti popcorn. And it comes out looking pretty epic. The brownie, with its crunchy outer and slightly chewy inner, is exactly how I like my brownies. The vanilla ice cream was not so vanilla tonight, but that was ok - it was a delicious chocolate ice cream anyway. The amaretti popcorn adds a nice crunchy element, and along with some rich chocolate sauce, it was as delicious as it sounds.

Amalfi Lemon Meringue Cheesecake - $14.00
The Cheesecake is described as a velvety mascarpone and lemon cheesecake topped with Italian meringue, served with lemon curd and blackcurrants. As a cheesecake, the texture is very firm, almost like a baked cheesecake. The meringue on top was airy, fluffy and very light. The base was a little thin, which meant that the cheesecake missed that balance between textures that the brownie delivered. The blackcurrant sauce attempted to provide that contrast to the lemon, but was overpowered by the lemon curd served on the side when combined with the lemon cheesecake. Overall, whilst delicious, the cheesecake was over-powered by the lemon curd in the end.

Jamie's is open to 10:30pm, which is pretty convenient for a post game drink or dessert. We were served in the area to the right of the main bar, so we had some very comfy lounge chairs and some ambient music. We also had a few espresso martinis, which were a perfect addition to two quality desserts. We'd definitely head back for some of the other items on the dessert menu.
