North River Lobster Company, W 41st Street and 12th Avenue (Pier 81), North Berth - NYC, 10036This is a little late in the posting, but with Summer fast approaching (seriously, where has the year gone!), I (Mirko) thought it would be a good reason to post this blog and think about the upcoming New York City (NYC) Summer.
During the 2016 Summer, myself and a few friends took a cruise with the North River Lobster Company. A boat which serves some delicious drinks and food. The concept is quite simple, the boat leaves the North Berth a number of times throughout the day and takes you on a (free) cruise along the Hudson. The cruise lasts about 45 minutes however, you don't need to disembark at the end... if you want to stay on the entire day and bask in the summer rays... go for it. And that's exactly what we did.
While on this cruise, I ordered a lobster roll, truffle fries and a bucket of Corona's. The lobster roll was a decent size with an abundance of sweet, tender, juicy lobster wedged in between a soft brioche roll. What more could you ask for on a warm Summers day?! The truffle fries had a nice douse of truffle oil and Parmesan cheese and made a good accompaniment to the lobster roll. Couple that with a few 'coldies' (slang for beer in Aussie), and you are set.
