Melbourne! Mr Miyagi Does Easter

Mr Miyagi - 99 Chapel Street, Windsor, VIC 3181

This one is for the sweet tooth's, and I mean the enthusiasts in dessert. I (Christina) consider myself a master at eating sweets but I was sorely mistaken when one of Mr Miyagi’s beautiful waitresses placed this extravagance in front of me. She told me the plate was recommended for four people - challenge accepted. On The Chopping Board (OTCB) was invited to Mr. Miyagi to try their special Easter dessert. All food was provided on behalf of Mr. Miyagi.

I didn’t know where to start. The kitchen had created what reminded me of a mini garden with a crème Easter egg. I started with the ice-cream, a white chocolate flavour with fudge brownie offcuts and roast chocolate nibs. It was beautiful, the brownie and chocolate crunchy nibs added different textures to complement the ice-cream. This occurred a lot throughout the plate.

The pink rectangle cake you see at the top of the plate was a Kit Kat mousse. Extremely smooth and just melted in your mouth. To the left was a warm chocolate fudge cake, which had plenty of bounce. Through the middle is what were described as chocolate soil and salted white rocks, which were white chocolate ganache. I loved this, it created the perfect palate cleanser when you are working your way through the plate. The crunch and salt factor prepared me for what was to come, the crème egg. The egg was the sweetest of all on this plate. The egg white consisted of vanilla liqueur and the yolk was a vanilla fondant. There was also the petrol station favourite pick up of Aero chocolate bars and then salt caramel pearls to pick at.

Overall, the dessert was beautiful, it unfortunately beat me and I had to forfeit before finishing the serve for four. With over 10 different elements to the dish it is definitely one to share.

Mr Miyagi is a walk-in restaurant for groups of 1-5 so ensure you get there early to write your name on the list. Wait times are sometimes up to 2 hours if you leave it too late in the night.

Happy Easter food lovers!
