East Borough Eatery - A New Brunch Player in Town!

East Borough Eatery - 96 Glen Osmond Road, Parkside SA 5063

Excited to try the new addition on the Glen Osmond Road strip, I (Amanda) visited East Borough Eatery for lunch with a friend one Saturday afternoon. We arrived to a busy and boisterous venue, which was a lot bigger than I envisaged (I never had the opportunity to visit the venue previously when it was Bar 9).  Spreading across two large rooms, with crisp white walls and high ceilings, we were seated with menus and water provided.

The menu covers all your needs... there is an all day menu, as well as a lunch menu (starts from 12pm), kids menu (4 items) and a variety of beverage options including coffees, teas, milkshakes, smoothies, fresh juices, brunch non alcoholic cocktails and more.  The menu conveniently clearly marks dishes that are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. With two full pages to study and with so many delicious sounding items to choose from, it was no surprise it took us a few visits from the server before we were finally ready for him to take our order.

Reuben $16
I selected one of my favourite sandwiches - The Reuben (check out another of my reuben reviews at Delicatessen Kitchen and Bar). This one with corned beef, swiss cheese, pickled cabbage and Russian dressing on rye did not disappoint.  Thick slices of toasted rye bread easily held multiple layers of the juicy and tender corned beef, melted swiss cheese and a generous filling of tangy pickled purple cabbage.  I enjoyed the twist in the use of purple cabbage, rather than the traditional white cabbage as it brought exciting colour and intrigue to the plate.  A good smothering of Russian dressing and I had the reuben I wanted with sauce dripping down my hands... yum!  And... to top it off a big fat juicy pickle on the side... the best!

Pulled Pork Bun $16
My friend indulged in the orange braised pulled pork, house made kimchi, crispy shallots, herbs (and minus the kewpie due to dietary requirements) on a brioche bun.  She thoroughly enjoyed this burger with a generous filling of pulled pork, slight heat from the kimchi and sweetness from the soft bun.  We were both extremely full and satisfied from the generous serving sizes.

Almond Milk Latte $4.60
I also enjoyed an almond milk latte, which was pleasant to drink with a nice nutty creaminess and no bitter after taste.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to East Borough Eatery.  It was a comfortable and welcoming location, with tasty, good value food that would appeal to all ages and also families with kids.
