The Nourish'd Kitchen through UberEATS

On a busy, yet still raining Spring day here at On The Chopping Board (OTCB), we were hungry but a little too busy to head out to get something to eat for lunch. Avoiding the vending machine at all costs, we (Amanda and Nathan) opened up the UberEATS app and started discussing what we should order. Keeping it healthy after a few big meals lately, we decided on a few items from The Nourish’d Kitchen. Having tried here previously, we knew we would get great produce, including meat sourced from their own farms in the Adelaide Hills and Mallee region. Getting it delivered using UberEATS meant we could have it brought to us and meet a few more tight work deadlines.

Having recently seen a picture of an epic steak sandwich on their Instagram account, I instantly knew I wanted to try it. It was a delicious combination of thinly cut grilled steaks, Swiss cheese, caramelised onion and tomato relish, that was topped with a cabbage and carrot coleslaw between two toasted wholemeal sourdough pieces of bread. Oh, and I added bacon. Cos what is life without bacon?

Steak Sandwich - $18. Add Bacon $4.

Opening the container, there was a lovely side of corn chips topped with avocado, a great little addition, which alleviated any initial thoughts I had about how good hot chips on the side may have been if I was out at a pub or cafĂ©. The sandwich was great – the thin steak was just the right size, allowing for easy biting through without losing the whole piece. Swiss cheese, onion and relish were all complementary, and the coleslaw provided a little bit of creaminess and crunch to balance the other textures. The bread was fresh, soft and just thick enough to hold everything together without overpowering the sandwich. I was so happy I added the bacon, it added a little more meat to the sandwich and the slight smokiness added the last piece in what was a delicious combination.

Bonita Bowl - $16. Add Poached Chicken $5. 

Amanda decided upon the Bonita Bowl with added Poached Chicken. Served as a flavourful South American salad bowl with spiced black beans, corn, salsa, red quinoa, gluten free corn chips and avocado, it was drizzled with a cilantro and lime cashew dressing. The poached chicken and black beans were the highlights. The chicken was moist and soft, and the spiced black beans gave the dish a very South American feel. The textures were great, from the creaminess of the avocado, crispness of the salsa and the crunch of the corn chips, it was a great combination. The added acidity of the lime and cashew dressing rounded out the salad and made sure the balance of flavours was maintained. A very satisfying and flavour packed lunch bowl, that was full of good quality nutritious elements.

Pancakes - $16

For no reason other than ‘just because’, we also ordered a serve of the pancakes to finish with. We just couldn’t go past how good they looked in the UberEATS app menu. The fluffy pancakes were served with a creamy blueberry ricotta, crunchy crushed almonds, fresh strawberries and blueberries and a big serve of maple syrup. It was all very moreish, very delicious and a great end to lunch.

Overall, our food from The Nourish’d Kitchen was delicious. Using the UberEATS app to order and have lunch delivered straight to our office meant we could access the suburban located Nourish’d Kitchen in the heart of the CBD.
