The Spot on Melbourne Through UberEATS

The Spot on Melbourne - 133 Melbourne Street, North Adelaide, SA 5006

It's no secret in our office that UberEATS is our regular go to for weekday lunches.  The trickiest part is deciding what to order from the many dining options available on the UberEATS app.  After much tastebud deliberation this one lunchtime, we decided on some fresh and flavourful Vietnamese food from The Spot on Melbourne.

Lunch for two!

We love using the UberEATS app to track our food order, from the preparation of our food to delivering our lunch straight to the office door.  No need to brave the cold and windy weather elements today!

Cold Rolls - Grilled BBQ Pork (front), Grilled Chicken (back) $6.50

We started with the cold rolls; one grilled BBQ pork and one marinated grilled chicken, both served  with a side of peanut sauce infused with coconut cream.  These were big, plump and generously filled with fresh salad and herbs, vermicelli noodles and tender, tasty meats.  The peanut dipping sauce added a great nutty flavour and with the inclusion of the coconut cream, made the sauce nice and creamy.

Bao - Pork (front), Chicken (middle), Soft Shell Crab (back) $13.00

We selected three of the four available varieties of baos. All the steamed buns were soft and spongy and holding the plentiful fillings well, even after a travel across town to get to us. The pork belly was juicy and had the crunchy delectable crackling atop that we were hoping for.  The soft shell crab was lightly battered creating a nice crisp outer and the third bao with grilled chicken, was tender and had a delicious caramelisation on the outer from the grill.  All sprinkled with chopped peanuts and some additions of lettuce and pickled vegetables added the freshness these meaty baos needed.

Marinated Grilled Chicken Bun Vermicelli Salad (gluten free) $12.90

A Vietnamese salad is always a good lunch time choice, as it's an all rounder, which satisfies in both flavour and sustenance.  The marinated chicken in this salad was the absolute star, thick slices of juicy tender chicken (the same chicken used in the cold rolls and bao) was generously placed atop
the vermicelli noodles, crispy fried shallots, shredded lettuce and pickled cucumber and carrot.  We added chilli as we like a hit of heat with all the freshness.  The squeeze of lemon was a nice addition, which would have balanced out the fish sauce dressing, if it wasn't forgotten on this occasion.

Roast Pork Banh Mi $7.50

We can never get enough banh mi in our OTCB lives and this one scored very well.  The homemade roast pork with crackling was a delight.  Plentiful thick pieces of pork belly and lots of crunch from the crackling, combined with the pate, homemade vietnamese pickle, cucumber, spring onions, fresh chilli and corinader was a flavourful mouthful bite after bite.  The fresh crunchy white roll held all the ingredients within well, confirming this is a banh mi we would eat over and over again.

Freshly Squeezed Juice $8 (left), Vietnamese Iced Coffee $5 (right)

To wash our lunch feast down we sipped on a Vietnamese iced coffee and a freshly squeezed juice. With a number of ingredients to choose from, we were able to design our own juice, which we love as we can pick exactly what we feel like on the day.  Today's juice creation consisted of a simple combination of pineapple, apple, ginger and mint.

Overall, we enjoyed our flavourful Vietnamese lunch from The Spot on Melbourne today and love that we have access to so many lunch options at the click of a button on the UberEATS app. What will we order next time... the tasty options are endless!
