Can we have this platter again now?

Along with the avocado epidemic that is currently occurring, we are also in the midst of a cheese platter epidemic and I'm (Christina) not hating on it.

We were invited to The Milton, which is a little wine and cheese bar in the quiet Melbourne suburb of Elwood. The interior was host to dim lighting and one side of the bar was filled with spirits and the other side had high tables for two with individual lights.

The Milton's entry

'The Milton' isn't a place to go for a heavy meal, it's the perfect place for a glass and nibbles with your friends.

We had a glass of the pinot noir which was the 2016 Collaborators from Gippsland. A really easy red to drink, a great way to start your night or if you're just having a glass with cheese and meats.

Their platters are absolutely beautiful. I also love when a waiter shares their favourites from the menu. Our waiter recommended the soft cheese - 'Delice Cremiers with apricots' ($14), and it was heavenly. It was one of the creamiest cheeses I've ever had and it just melted in your mouth. That cheese spread on their fresh bread was simply divine.

Fresh bread & crackers

To even out the platter, we had a hard cheese, which was the 'Farm House Cheddar' with quince paste ($12). Is quince paste not just the glue that holds a platter together? These two went together like spaghetti and meatballs. The perfect sweetness for the hard cheese.

We also shared the 'Pure Pork Hot Salami with pickled chilli' ($14), which was truly addictive but thank god they gave a generous portion because we could not stop eating slice after slice. It had a great bit of spice to it!

The 'San Daniele 24 month Prosciutto' ($14), was my favourite,  especially when I had just had some supermarket prosciutto earlier this week and it just makes you realise how you NEED quality meats because they are a million times better.

The platter!

'The Milton' is definitely a hidden treasure. There is also an undercover courtyard out the back with a fireplace so it is perfect for the Melbourne winter.

'The Milton' is open Tuesday to Sunday from 4pm and from 2pm on Friday and Saturday.
